When I appreciated Master's paintings at the Hsihu Center, very often I would catch a glimpse of the painting "Fear," but seldom paid special attention to it. Once, after the massive earthquake in 1999, a fellow sister purchased a print of "Fear." Not long after, she told me that her lingering fear since the earthquake disaster had suddenly vanished after she saw the painting "Fear." To her, this painting by Master is simply miraculous! Since then, I started to appreciate it with greater attention.

After the evening meditation session during a two-day retreat, I went to the painting exhibition area, which was illuminated by the harmonious radiance of spotlights and Master's Longevity Lamps. Each of Master's paintings and lamps shone with exceptional beauty and gentle liveliness, further enhanced by Master's music playing in the background; I rejoiced in the atmosphere!

Several months ago, I felt uneasy and unsettled, and when I saw "Fear" at that time, it really shocked me! Each flower petal and leaf in the painting, even the vase, seemed to tremble with fear. Only then did I realize that the only "fear" I should have was whether or not my faith in the Truth had diminished, whether my ego had grown stronger, whether I had made mistakes, or hurt anyone, or if my level of consciousness had degraded without my being aware of it. The painting "Fear" instantly reminded me of many things, and let me realize the ephemeral nature of life, and that if I fail to make good use of the present moment to practice diligently and accomplish my tasks, I should be ashamed of myself before Master. ...Next page
