Master's Wonders

Surviving a Disaster

Narrated by sister-initiates Xiao Guang and Xiao Ji, Mainland China Recorded by a fellow initiate (Originally in Chinese)

During a trip away from home in the summer of 2004, sister-initiates Xiao Guang and Xiao Ji were injured in a car accident that could best be described as “a miracle of survival.” While on their journey, the sisters were crossing a road when they were hit by a white sedan speeding toward them at 120 km an hour. The impact was so powerful that sister Xiao Guang was thrown into the air and landed on the road ahead. She was then struck by the car a second time, and on the second impact broke the car’s windshield before bouncing off the vehicle and onto the ground. Meanwhile, sister Xiao Ji landed ten meters away but quickly got to her feet to see how badly Xiao Guang had been hurt. After noticing no visible injuries to her sister she spoke softly into her ear, evoking a mischievous wink in response.

An ambulance quickly arrived along with several local police officers, who found that the driver was drunk. But they were mystified at the absence of skid marks, which should have been left by the car before it came to a stop. While the two casualties were being rushed to the hospital, the driver who had hit them vanished without a trace. An examination then revealed that sister Xiao Guang had suffered a compression fracture in one of her lumbar vertebrae, but the doctor said that surgery would not be necessary. Sister Xiao Ji had suffered only superficial injuries but both were hospitalized.

To ease their family’s minds sister Xiao Ji telephoned her husband the following day and told him that she had to be away from home for a few more days. Her husband then asked, “Did you have a car accident? Last night I dreamt that you two were hit by a white sedan. But at that moment, a white light body stopped the car with both hands and that’s why you’re OK. It must have been Master who saved you!” When Xiao Guang’s older brother came to see her he expressed the same view: “Had it not been for Master, you couldn’t have survived.”

While the sisters were in the hospital, local initiates spent time with them and brought them vegetarian meals, expressing the warmth of the Quan Yin family. During this time sister Xiao Ji received a message from the inner Master telling her that she would recover and be discharged in ten days, and sister Xiao Guang rested in bed listening to Master’s Buddha’s Chanting tapes daily. As a result, other patients in the vicinity also benefited from Master’s blessings. For example, some recovered from serious injuries in a few days and were discharged from the hospital, and several showed great interest in the Quan Yin Method, were delighted to receive Master’s sample booklet and said they would switch to a vegetarian diet. Even the hospital’s head physician called sister Xiao Guang “Mrs. Buddha” for throughout his thirty-year medical career he had never seen anyone sustain such minor injuries from such a serious car accident.

Later, the hit-and-run driver was found, and when asked why he had fled he said, “I was driving extremely fast when I hit the two women, and I thought they had surely been killed. That’s why I ran off. It’s inconceivable that they were only slightly injured. It’s really a miracle!”

Sister Xiao Guang recently recovered and practices diligently each day. Whenever she thinks about her miraculous car accident she feels it was a blessing in disguise, and filled with inner gratitude she said, “We’re grateful to Master for giving us a new life. Let us now cherish every minute of our lives so that we can pursue spiritual practice.”
