While on the Path

Heavenly Rescue
from the Rip Tides of Earthly Life

By David Smugar, San Francisco, USA (Originally in English)

Life before meeting the Master was as if I were constantly caught in a rip tide in the ocean. The waves would come; I’d thrash about to no avail and find myself perpetually trapped in the tide, unable to see the land that could provide a safe haven for me. The waves would subside, but as I’d once again attempt to make my way back to land, the fog would roll in and again my success in reaching dry land would be thwarted.

Then the Master came. She smiled brightly and provided me with a small craft, which I was to use as protection against the rough seas. The waves were still there, as were the rip tides, but I was not required to struggle as much. This craft gave me the opportunity to regain my strength and take another look at the challenging seas.

As I was able to relax a bit using the God-given craft, I noticed that although the waves were rough, they were crashing against my craft less violently and less frequently. The more I became familiar with the small boat, the more the fog lifted. And the more the fog lifted, the more the sea’s fury became tolerable. I understood that the sea would always behave the way it had: at times rough, at times smooth, at times foggy, but always unpredictable.

Once I learned to appreciate my new seaworthy craft, I asked for nothing more from the beautiful Master, as I was content. Nevertheless She continued to assist me with Her bright smile. Its brilliance shone a most powerful beacon of light, and in the deepest part of the darkest night, the luminescence of Her familiar smile finally led me all the way back to shore. As soon as I realized I’d made it to dry land, She disappeared as mysteriously as She’d arrived, rolling out with the fog. For a brief moment I felt alone. Then I noticed along the shore were thousands of individuals, all of them different in color and appearance, but all with bright smiles similar to that of the beautiful Master. They’d prepared a feast for me and introduced themselves as my “new” family from the distant past. They’d all been brought to the shore by the same radiant Master.

We each shared our stories of how a beautiful Being with a luminescent bright smile had come to show us the way to the shore. They shared with me that just by being together - even in silence - we could bathe in the Light of the Master’s presence at any time. We ate and laughed together, playing with the native animals who’d come to befriend us and thank us. My fellow brothers and sisters explained to me that the animals knew we respected them as equals and that they, too, were part of my new family.

Thank You, dearest Master, for everything.
