God’s Love Permeates the House
of Concern and Care for the Homeless

A clear blue sky marked the departure of the wet and overcast days of rainy May. Fellow practitioners from the Taipei Center of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association again visited the House of Concern and Care for the Homeless, a shelter for homeless friends in Linkou, Taipei County, to convey their love to the street friends prior to Mother’s Day and to hold a soul-elevating seminar on Alternative Living.

With Master’s financial contributions that enabled the House of Concern and Care for the Homeless to renovate its dormitories, the shelter looked brand new. (Please refer to the News #163 for details.) The fellow practitioners were greeted by Director Huang Mei-ying, former director of the Taipei County Volunteer Association. Ms. Huang expressed gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai and fellow practitioners of the Association for their loving concern and support over the past year in providing timely material aid and spiritual nourishment for the street people. The construction projects and other facilities of the shelter thus have also been able to progress faster.

While formally accepting the contributed items this time from the Taipei Center, Director Huang said that when she found that the shelter had ran out of rice, her first thought was of the fellow practitioners from the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association. She had only to make a telephone call and within three days, she received 1000 kg of rice, 6 cartons of soy sauce and delicious vegetarian food exquisitely prepared by the Taipei practitioners. This timely loving relief solved the shelter’s difficult situation, for which she was very grateful to Master and the brothers and sisters of the Association.

Social worker Mr. Zeng was much impressed by the efficiency of the Quan Yin group, in their persistent care for underprivileged people and excellent coordination in accomplishing the tasks. He was very grateful to the fellow practitioners for their efforts and love in rendering material aid to people in urgent need. He said that when the shelter was in a plight, fellow practitioners had helped them renovate the premises, cultivate farmland and provide technical guidance to develop organic farming. This has given them confidence in the future and the hope of developing a self-sustaining organic farm. This positive and successful case of assistance has helped the inhabitants at the House of Concern and Care for the Homeless develop their talents and self-reliance skills.

At noontime that day, fellow practitioners prepared a sumptuous vegetarian lunch and enjoyed it outdoors with the inhabitants, chatting and sharing Master’s love with them. Many inhabitants were becoming familiar with the delicious food and cordial attitude of the fellow practitioners as they recalled the dinner they had shared the previous New Year’s Eve. Director Huang and Chef Lin planned to serve pure vegetarian meals to the inhabitants for ten days each month. This was a great encouragement for the fellow practitioners, who had thoughtfully brought along lots of extra vegetarian ingredients to help them realize their dream plan as soon as possible.

In the afternoon, the inhabitants, some walking with crutches, went to the seminar venue on the second floor. Fellow practitioners were deeply touched by their sincerity. During this seminar on Alternative Living, the inhabitants attentively watched “Walk the Way of Love” and some excerpts from “The Real Heroes” DVD. They also listened to fellow practitioners speaking about Master and why people should be vegetarian. Later, led by Director Huang, a group including social worker Mr. Zeng, Chef Lin and about twenty inhabitants learned the Convenient Method. After meditating, Chef Lin was overwhelmed by the wonders of the Quan Yin Method. A resident who was once a gang leader said he felt a hot current flowing through his body. Mr. Zeng also felt very good and told a sister-initiate: “We will draw up a timetable so that we can have group meditation together.” These awakened souls have already embarked on their way “Home.” An inhabitant who was out to receive medical treatment missed the teaching session, but said firmly that he would learn the Convenient Method next time.

In addition to this exclusive spiritual gift, the inhabitants received vegetarian cakes, candy, biscuits and a big bag of blessed food fully charged with Master’s love, and they enjoyed a very happy day! One of the inhabitants, Mr. Lin, moved by the love and respect, asked for the addresses of Hsihu Center and Taipei Center so he could attend group meditation there.

With Master’s blessings, fellow practitioners worked with great enthusiasm in groups, planning and cooperating to help inhabitants at this halfway home attain satisfaction in body, mind and spirit. The Convenient Method has elevated their souls and let them experience miracles and bliss.
