From the Governor of the Special Authority of Yogyakarta, Indonesia
On May 27, 2006, a heavy earthquake
hit Indonesia where more than six hundred thousand people were rendered
homeless. With Master’s love and financial help, a total of
IDR 529,789,612 (US$57,586) worth of relief cash, food, daily necessities,
camping equipment, medicine, etc., were provided to more than 8,750
families by The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association.
A medical relief team formed by professional fellow initiates also
provided first aid to many earthquake victims. (Please refer to the

A year has passed and extensive rehabilitation and reconstruction
activities have occurred with the comprehensive help from agencies
and organizations from all around the world. On behalf of the people
of the Special Authority of Yogyakarta, the Governor, Hamengku Buwono
X, signed an appreciation certificate to The Supreme Master Ching
Hai International Association to express sincere thanks to our Association
and many other international agencies, organizations and governments
that gave them tremendous material and immaterial support.
