Gatlinburg is one of the famous towns in Tennessee, attracting over nine million visitors each year. On Sunday, June 18, Golden Year 3 (2006), initiates from Ohio joined with initiates from Tennessee to distribute the Alternative Living flyers for the first time in this area.

It was a beautiful sunny day, with the streets full of people, many of whom were visitors from other states who came to enjoy shopping and sightseeing. Tennesee is famous for its beautiful clouds on the Smoky Mountains and misty dew-filled mornings. People here were very open-minded and happily accepted the flyers from us. Some sat down on nearby benches to read them and others read them while walking. One Muslim man, after reading the flyer, carefully folded it and placed it in his front shirt pocket.

When they saw us handing out the flyers, people stopped and talked to us about the vegetarian diet. They all agreed that vegetarian is good but many did not know how to start it. So, we introduced them to the Alternative Living website, which contains a lot of recipes, pictures, and tells them where to purchase the vegetarian food. Within just a few hours, we had distributed about 3,000 flyers. Before leaving town, we placed flyers in the Visitor Information booth so that more people could pick up the flyers later. With all the blessings from sharing Master's message, we felt as happy and carefree as the visitors in this vacation place. We all had a beautiful and meaningful time in Tennessee.

Michigan

Michigan initiates have been busily distributing the Alternative Living flyers and the TV postcard announcements for the Journey through Aesthetic Realms program on the i: Independent Television (formerly PAX) network. As Michigan’s land size is very large, with many small town, rural communities and only a couple of medium-sized cities, we decided the best way to distribute flyers was through newspaper inserts and full-page announcements along with personally handing them out in the cities.

Many initiates have full-time jobs and families, yet they went out after work and on weekends to do the distribution. Some initiates drove to the cities and handed out the AL flyers at shopping malls, schools, grocery stores, health food stores, bus stops, restaurants, laundromats, libraries, hospitals and places of employment. Others drove to far-away areas of the state to deliver the Alternative Living flyers to newspaper companies for inserts as well as mailing some of the flyers to the more distant newspaper companies in the state. In some other cases, a full-page announcement for Alternative Living was placed in the local newspaper instead of doing the flyer inserts.

A newspaper in the state capital of Lansing printed the television announcement free of charge for its 144,000 subscribers. To this date, approximately 248,000 Alternative Living flyers and TV announcements have been distributed in Michigan.

One initiate, who was handing out the TV postcards in a large indoor mall, was startled to see an Aulacese girl approaching quickly. It turned out that she wanted more information. After a friendly conversation, the girl took several Alternative Living leaflets to share with her friends and said she would carefully save the TV announcement with Master’s photo on it for herself.

Another initiate was giving out the TV postcard announcements near a large supermarket when she heard a woman calling for her attention. She turned around to see the woman excitedly waving the TV postcard, which stated, “All Disasters Are Created by Our Bad Thoughts.” The woman was smiling as she shouted, “That’s right! That’s right!” She had understood immediately Master’s message in the special TV lecture.

We are so happy to continue promoting Master’s teachings and compassion whenever and wherever we can. We pray that the fruits of Master’s and all the initiates’ efforts worldwide become more and more quickly apparent.
